A long time ago, in the land of Varanasi, the Bodhisattva was a cow. The owner of the Bodhisattva calf paid a fee to entrust the calf to an old mother when it was young.
The old mother loved the calf like her own son and made porridge (boiled rice), They fed him rice etc. and raised him well.
Having been raised in this way, when the calf grows up, it is very strong and stout. They are also known as the wise cow because of their good behavior and cleverness.
As the children play by pulling the horn of the bull, they also play by holding the tail. They also rode on their backs. The clever cow played with the children patiently without fighting.
One day, the wise cow thought, "My mother is poor, she has to feed me with difficulty, and she loves me like her own son. Therefore, I must work and repay my mother." From that day on, he waited for the opportunity to repay his mother.
One day, a cart merchant was trading with five hundred carts and came to a muddy harbor. The merchant's oxen could not pull the carts through the muddy wharf. Then the merchant went out to look for oxen to pull the carts.
The merchant was an expert in the book of signs of cows, so when he saw the wise cow, he knew that it would be able to pull his carts. Then the merchant asked the herdsmen, "Who owns this cow? I want it to pull my carts."
"The owner of this cow is not here, you can ask for it," the herdsmen replied, and the merchant pulled the cow by a rope.
The wise cow said, "This cart merchant has not yet told me how much money he will pay me. I will go after he pays me" and remained motionless. When the merchant also knew the will of the cow
"If you pull the carts, I will pay you one thousand silver for five hundred carts at the rate of two kyats per cart," said the wise cowman, who went to the carts and pulled all the carts.
When all the carts were loaded, the merchant wrapped only five hundred silver coins and tied them around the ox's neck. Then the cow is clever
"This man has not paid the full price as he told me. Therefore, I cannot let him go yet," he thought, standing in front of the cart chief.
The merchant pulls away, but the wise cow does not. The merchant also realized, "This cow knows that it is not full of money."
Then the wise cow came back to the old mother with a bundle of one thousand silver. The herdsmen followed the wise cow to the house.
On the street, the children asked, "What package are you hanging?" and if they approached, the clever cow would scare them away. The clever ox had pulled five hundred carts, so he was very tired and his eyes were red.
When the old mother saw the bundle of money, she asked, "Where did you get this money?" Then the herdsmen told the whole story.
The old mother said, "Son, do you want to earn money and take care of my mother? Why are you so grateful and suffering?" She bathed the clever cow with hot water and fed it with good food.
The old mother was delighted to see the clever cow eating. In this way, the old mother and the clever cow lived happily together for the rest of their lives. Pink Library
